To become a Notary Public in New York State, you must be at least 18 years old and either reside in New York or maintain an office in the state. Applicants must not have a felony conviction and are required to complete an application and pay a $60 fee to the New York Department of State (NY DOS). Once the application is approved, the applicant must take an oath of office to officially receive their commission.
